Corrections & Rectifications

How Courier Daily handles errors in its reporting. Transparent correction procedures and archive of rectifications.

We make mistakes. Nobody is happy about that, least of all us. Below you can read how we handle errors and where you can find old corrections.

How We Correct

  1. For every intervention in a published article — no matter how small — we mention at the bottom: when and what was changed, along with the initials of the responsible editor.
  2. For factual inaccuracies that affect the content, we place a clear rectification at the top of the article.
  3. For serious errors we publish a separate rectification on the homepage for at least 24 hours.
  4. For silent adjustments — which we do not do. Our content management system keeps track of versions.

Reporting an Error

Have you seen a factual inaccuracy? Email correcties@courierdaily.co.uk. You will receive a response within 5 working days and — if the report is valid — a direct correction.

Archive of Rectifications

Our most recent rectifications:

Our Policy Principles

  • Quick — a correction should not wait for the next edition.
  • Visible — we do not hide corrections at the bottom of the page.
  • Concrete — we specify exactly what was wrong and what is correct.
  • Without excuses — a rectification is a rectification, not a defence.

This policy aligns with Article 6 of the Code of Journalism from the UK Society of Editors.
