Privacy Policy (UK GDPR)
How Courier Daily processes and protects your personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
Courier Daily respects your privacy and complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Below you can read which data we process, why, and for how long.
1. Data Controller

2. Which data we process
- When visiting: IP address (anonymised), browser type, pages visited, referral source.
- When subscribing to the newsletter: email address and optionally first name.
- When creating an account: name, email address, password (hashed with bcrypt), phone number (optional).
- When placing an advertisement / job vacancy / family notice: the above plus payment details (processed by PayPal — we only receive a reference number), possibly ID document for family notices (encrypted storage, not visible to others).
- When commenting: name (provided by you), email address and IP address.
3. Why we process data
- Service provision — your account, your placement, your invoice.
- Communication — responses to your queries, sending newsletters (after opt-in).
- Improvement — anonymised analysis of visitor behaviour.
- Legal obligation — retention obligation for administration (7 years for tax purposes).
- Security — fraud and spam detection.
4. How long we retain data
- Log files: maximum 30 days (anonymised after 24 hours).
- Account: as long as you are active + 12 months, or until you request deletion.
- Payments/invoicing: 7 years (tax retention obligation).
- Newsletter subscribers: until unsubscribed.
- Tips and correspondence with the editorial team: as long as journalistically relevant.
5. Who receives your data
We share your data with:
- Processors — hosting (Hetzner, EU), email (Postfix on our own server), payments (PayPal Inc.).
- Legal authorities — only with a court order.
We never sell, rent, or exchange your data.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, deletion, restriction, data portability, and objection to processing. Send a request to privacy@courierdaily.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
