Editorial Statute

The editorial statute of Courier Daily: our agreements on journalistic independence and editorial practices.

The editorial statute outlines the agreements between the management, the editorial board, and the editorial team regarding journalistic independence and editorial procedures.

Article 1 — Purpose

The editorial team of Courier Daily aims to conduct independent, high-quality journalism that is engaged with London society, in service of the reader.

Article 2 — Journalistic Independence

  1. The editorial team determines which topics are covered and how.
  2. The management respects editorial autonomy and does not interfere with the content of publications.
  3. Commercial interests are strictly separated from editorial decisions. Sponsored content is always clearly labelled.
  4. Advertisements or sponsorship cannot be grounds for omission or alteration of editorial reporting.

Article 3 — Editor-in-Chief

The editor-in-chief is ultimately responsible for everything published on behalf of Courier Daily. The editor-in-chief is appointed by the management, following a binding nomination from the editorial representation.

Article 4 — Modification of Publications

  1. A published article can only be modified or removed with the agreement of the editor-in-chief.
  2. Any changes to a published article will be made visible — see our correction policy.
  3. Removal from the archive occurs only after careful consideration of public interest versus personal interest.

Article 5 — Whistleblowers and Source Protection

The editorial team unconditionally protects its sources. Identifying information will not be provided to third parties — including law enforcement agencies — unless under a legal order.

Article 6 — Right to Reply

In reporting that may cast individuals or organisations in a negative light, they are always given the opportunity to respond. Our efforts in this regard are documented.

Article 7 — Conflict of Interest

Editorial members report potential conflicts of interest to the editor-in-chief and refrain from publication when their independence may be compromised.

Article 8 — Code for Journalism

The editorial team adheres to the Code for Journalism of the Dutch Association of Editors-in-Chief.

Established by management and editorial board, January 2025. Changes require the consent of both parties.
